The Building Services Awards have been designed to reflect the vibrant and ever-changing nature of the sector – and as such, there is a vast array of accolades up for grabs.

Some will be decided by a panel of industry experts while others will be put into the hands of industry professionals themselves.

Building Services
Project of the Year

Open to any company operating in the UK for any occupied space project implemented after November 1, 2018.

Entrants are requested to provide the following information where relevant:

  • The project brief
  • How the project delivered the brief
  • Details of materials/products used, including bespoke methods or products
  • Testimonials
  • Up to 250 words outlining why this project deserves to win this Award (bullet points are acceptable)

Training initiative
of the year

This category is open to any company operating in the UK for any training initiative launched after November 1, 2018.

To support your entry, please include the following information where possible:

  • The research behind the initiative and how it was implemented
  • Who the initiative is aimed at/who will benefit from the initiative
  • The effectiveness of the initiative – including statistical evidence that supports this
  • Testimonials

product of the year

Open to manufacturers or manufacturers’ agents, for products that have been launched in the UK after November 1, 2018.

In addition to the products details, uses and application, entrants should also provide the following information where relevant:

  • Background to R&D (e.g. was it developed in response to customer feedback?)
  • Key/unique features and benefits
  • Target market
  • Any environmental/energy saving benefits
  • ROI potential
  • Testimonials

Building services ancillary
product of the year

Open to manufacturers or manufacturers’ agents, for any ancillary product that has been launched in the UK after November 1, 2018.

In addition to the products details, uses and application, entrants should also provide the following information where relevant:

  • Background to R&D (e.g. was it developed in response to customer feedback?)
  • Key/unique features and benefits
  • Target market
  • Any environmental/energy saving benefits
  • Lifetime running costs and ROI potential
  • Testimonials

sustainable product
of the year

Open to manufacturers or manufacturers’ agents, for either existing products that have been adapted to achieve greater sustainability or products with sustainable credentials that have been launched in the UK after November 1, 2018.

In addition to the products details, uses and application, entrants should also provide the following information where relevant:

  • Short history of the product (up to 250 words) from concept to launch
  • Key/unique features and benefits
  • Environment/energy saving credentials
  • Up to 3 examples of customers using this product to meet their sustainability objectives
  • Testimonials

energy management
project of the year

Open to any company operating in the UK for any energy management project implemented after November 1, 2018.

Entrants are requested to provide the following information where possible:

  • Details of the energy management initiative or strategy objectives
  • Any special project challenges or constraints and how these were addressed
  • Measures taken to reduce energy use
  • User feedback on the building(s) or portfolio and level of satisfaction with the measures adopted
  • How the project or initiative could be accessed and applied by other client bodies (such as a project website, web-based materials, guidance materials, training/staff engagement programme or other transferrable tools)
  • Evidence of improvement in performance, based on measured on energy/water consumption/reduced costs

responsibility award

This category is open to any company operating in the UK that has demonstrated a clear commitment to future-proofing and sustainability. 

To support your entry, try to provide informative and materials that cover:

  • Information your product(s)/ project(s)/ initiative(s) that have been developed with sustainability in mind
  • Research that supported the development
  • Details on how this will be positively impactful
  • Who will benefit
  • Testimonials and statistical evidence that supports your efforts for sustainability

lifetime achievement
award

This award will recognise one special individual that has demonstrated outstanding commitment and passion for the industry over the course of their career.

The winner of this award will have championed excellence and innovation, as well as having encouraged and motivated colleagues and peers. 

voted Categories

best service & maintenance
provider of the year

This will be awarded to the company which best demonstrates excellence in the provision of long-term service and maintenance contracts within the field of building services.

Entrants should ensure that they illustrate:

  • Understanding of the services to be provided and client requirements
  • How client objectives were met
  • Client satisfaction in the form of testimonials

installer
of the year

To support your entry, please provide as much relevant information as possible using the following as a guide:

 

  • Describe your company and its services
  • Describe how the company has grown, succeeded or expanded in the past year
  • Provide brief details of up to 3 installations which have met and/or exceeded client objectives. This should include the original brief, how it was achieved, the materials/products used, whether the timescale was met and any special lengths that your company has gone to to deliver the installation. You may also wish to include any difficulties encountered and how these were overcome.
  • Prove client testimonial(s) for the installations entered.

contractor
of the year

This award will be presented to only the very best contractor operating in the UK.

Please provide information to support your entry, using the following points as a guide:

  • Describe your company and the work it undertakes
  • Detail any company growth or expansion (at all levels) and any landmark successes
  • Describe your directly-employed workforce
  • Detail your company’s methods
  • Provide detail on up to 3 contracts that your company has undertaken in the past year, including details on methods, any environmental issues encountered, health and safety etc

    • Explain how leaders guide the organization towards success by inspiring and motivating the team
    • Explain the process used to establish team performance and goals
    • How does the team work together to achieve established goals and measurements
    • How does the team create an environment that encourages teamwork
    • What type of industry activities does the team participate in (e.g. conferences, webinars, virtual events, associations, memberships)
    • Describe any challenges your team has overcome within the last 12 months
    • How did the team face and overcome the challenges
    • Highlight any innovations the team have introduced to help overcome the challenges
    • Finally – in less than 200 words tells us why your team deserves to win a Building Services Award?

    engineer of the year

    Entries should demonstrate how an individual has applied technical knowledge combined with project management skills to meet with and resolve engineering challenges.

    This isn’t just about engineering – it’s about people skills, going the extra mile and exceeding expectations.

    Evidence of the following should be provided:

    • Achievements to date (e.g training courses, qualifications etc)
    • Application of knowledge on project/work-based challenges
    • Supporting testimonials (from employer, customers or manager)

    This award will recognise someone whose customer services skills are a beacon of excellence.

    This award is open to anyone in a customer-facing role: from accounts clerks, receptionists and apprentices all the way through to sales people, engineers and even company owners.
