The Building Services Awards 2020: Rewarding the best products, projects and people

Datateam Business Media, the publisher of BSEE Magazine, has announced the launch of the Building Services Awards. Designed to recognise the hard work of the apprentices, engineers, manufacturers and installers that push the boundaries of the services sector, the winners will be revealed in one of London’s most sought after venues, the prestigious Tower Hotel, on Tuesday 21st January 2020.

Commenting on the awards’ ‘ground-breaking’ formula, business director Jacqui Henderson says: “There has been a call for such an event for some time. Celebrating as many areas of this diverse industry as possible, the format of this event is unlike anything seen in the marketplace before, with a number of categories being decided by an online vote”.

In a first for the industry, a secure online voting process will produce a shortlist of finalists in the voted-for categories, with an expert judging panel selecting finalist in many others.

Companies and individuals are able to enter into the relevant categories online via the Building Services Awards website. Here they can nominate the leading products, projects and people that they feel help to make the industry shine. What’s more, it’s free!

Once the deadline for entries/nominations has been reached, the decision making process begins. A number of awards will be determined by industry professionals through a secure online vote, which will be the only defining factor in outlining the shortlist and winners. For the remainder of the awards, a panel of industry experts will curate a shortlist and ultimately, decide one winner for each category.

Judges will shortlist and choose the winners for ‘Building Services Project of the Year’, ‘Training Initiative of the Year’, ‘Building Services Product of the Year’ and ‘Building Services Ancillary Product of the Year’. Similarly, ‘Sustainable Product of the Year’, ‘Energy Management Project of the Year’, ‘Corporate Social Responsibility Award’ and the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ will also go before a judging panel.

In the remaining categories, an online vote will mean leading industry professionals will get the chance to have their say. Awards for ‘Best Service and Maintenance Provider of the Year’, ‘Installer of the Year’, ‘Contractor of the Year’, ‘Team of the Year’, ‘Building Services Engineer of the Year’ and the ‘Customer Service Award’ will be decided through the voting process.

Winners for each of these categories will be revealed on Tuesday 21st January 2020, with an evening ceremony featuring a full champagne reception, a three-course meal and the highly anticipated awards ceremony. In this esteemed setting, the winners for each category will be announced; giving attendees the chance to celebrate their achievements and network with the individuals that make a difference within the industry. The ceremony will take place on the first day of Building Services Live, a dedicated and interactive exhibition designed to showcase innovations from within the sector, culminating in an evening of recognition at the Building Services Awards.
